Rockfire, Exploration Drilling, Greece

Project Description

The Molaoi Zn/Pb/Ag project is reportedly a volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit in the Peloponnese Province of Southern Greece. Exploration drilling has been focussed on a 1.5 km long strike of mineralisation. There is an additional 5.5 km strike of favourable geology, which also contains high-grade intersections in limited drilling.

The aim of this extensive drilling campaign is to provide exploration data accross the length of the deposit and infill data in the area prominent for mining in the following years.

The drilling pads were carefully selected and optimised for minimum site disturbance (drilling in terrain covered by olive oil trees).

Project Challenge

Demanding project that requires high-quality drilling and recovery techniques. First indications on the ground conditions imposes the requirement for careful drilling to cause minumum ground disturbance and avoid borehole walls collapse.

  • Minimum ground and site disturbance
  • High core recovery
  • Adaptation to ground conditions
  • Core orientation

RESULTS

So far, the twin holes verified at a great confidence level the historic dataset.
